I remember it like it was yesterday….

We were down at Dad’s basement workbench. He paused in the middle of a project, turned to me with a big smile and asked…

“Son, would you like to try it?”

I was nearly 7 years old and after years of “helping” my dad (read: handing him things), he finally asked if *I* wanted to use the drill. It was the first time he ever let me touch one of his power tools!

Of course he kept a close eye on me the whole time, and my hole certainly wasn’t the straightest, but that Saturday afternoon ignited a passion for getting my hands dirty. Just like my grandfather did for my dad, I now had the “DIY” bug.

From that day onward, I’d offer to build every “do it yourself” thing that came into the house, and continually fixed tons of things for Mom and Dad. (Nearly four decades later, and I’m still doing that for them!)

From mounting things on the wall…to building crazy furniture…to figuring out electrical projects with my test circuit boards…to woodworking projects in Scouts and school…to building things for my own home now…every project holds a special place in my heart. (And many of my childhood projects are still treasured items in my house decades later.)

This was waaaaaaay before the age of “Google it” or “YouTube it”. While there was a joy in figuring things out for myself (and there still is), there was a LOT of time wasted making mistakes. (Sound familiar?)

That’s why I decided to create this fun site. Thanks to technology, there’s an unlimited amount of inspiration to be found online, and I want to bring you some of the best!

I love searching out new projects that will give you an excuse to buy another power tool. If you’re like me, I’m sure you also love seeing the endless amount of creativity that exists in this world.

That’s why I created Amazing Home Projects. While everything you find here might not be perfect (and yes, you might find a typo from time to time), I promise to bring you great inspiration, fun content, cool pictures, amazing resources, and more.
